Large, heavenly beaches in the north of Fuerteventura Very close to the tourist hub of Corralejo, in the north-east of Fuerteventura, you can enjoy the internationally known ‘Grandes Playas’ – Big Beaches – of Corralejo; nine kilometres of divine beaches bordered by the Corralejo Dunes, the largest in the Canary Islands. This is a place where the turquoise waters lap a coast covered by fine white sand formed naturally from the erosion of sea shells. Excellent for exfoliation, this particular form of sand has made these beaches an authentic natural spa, with views of the islands of Los Lobos and Lanzarote.
Family beaches and sporting beaches close to Corralejo Corralejo’s Big Beaches are formed by a number of beaches in the Corralejo Natural Park, accessible from the FV-1 motorway, with parking alongside. The small coves towards the south end are perfect for nudist bathing in complete privacy. Travel northwards and the beaches are more family-friendly and have services such as lifeguards, in Burro beach for example, or a more complete range including sunbed and parasol hire in the Bajo Negro beach in front of the Riu hotels. El Médano beach, the closest to Corralejo, is mainly used by those who practise water sports such as kite boarding and windsurf.
