The Sotavento beach is one of the most famous of Fuerteventura and is almost always gets photographed in the tourist brochures with clear water and white sand.
This beach area is located south of Costa Calma, and have not just hotels, and also because of its large size, many people never have, except fans of windsurfing and kiteboarding.
I have divided the Sotavento beach in 3 areas: Playa Barca, Risco del Paso and “Viewpoint” (Mirador) that coincides with the three main entrances to it.
Also included in this section of the Sotavento beach, the Playa de los Canarios and Malnombre beach, because although smaller, are similar
This beach area is about 9 miles long, and at low tide, you can cross it completely in one of the best rides you can do on the island.
More typical of the Sotavento beach is the sand bar that lies between 100 and 300meters from the shore, which is over two miles and creates a natural lagoon, shallow, and is the perfect place to start in water sports (windsurfing and kiteboarding), and therefore, the company’s most important teaching of these sports is installed on this beach (Rene Egli).
